3D scanning og the physical world is an interesting topic and becoming important in design and manufacturing. For my bachelor I implemented a structured light 3D scanner. This form of 3D scanning uses applies a projector and a camera with some to apture a series of patterns projected on the object to be scanned. These captures can then combined and some trigonometry used to create a point cloud.
